We are seeking a medior Project Manager for our client.

 

Purpose of the job 

 

The R&D Project Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and delivering research and development initiatives, balancing project scope, timelines, and resources. This role uniquely blends project management expertise with technical knowledge to support the development of innovative solutions. 

 

Competencies

  • Project management expertise: Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management, with expertise in Agile, Scrum, or other iterative development methodologies, ensuring timely and effective delivery. 
  • Technical knowledge and industry awareness: Deep understanding of relevant concepts, software development life cycles, and emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, to ensure informed decision-making and effective management of projects. 
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Skilled at working with diverse teams, including Software developers, data scientists, product managers, and product owners to ensure alignment and achieve project goals. 
  • Innovation and problem solving: Ability to think creatively and drive innovative solutions, identifying opportunities for technical advancements and aligning them with the business goals and strategies. 
  • Communication and stakeholder management: Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey progress, risks, and technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Adaptability and continuous learning: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing requirements, manage uncertainty, and continuously update skills to keep pace with evolving technologies and priorities. 

Tasks and responsibilities 

  • Project planning and execution: Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Agile collaboration with development teams: Work closely with software engineers, architects, and product teams in Agile environments to translate business goals into actionable development tasks and track progress using tools like JIRA or Confluence. 
  • Technology exploration and innovation enablement: Facilitate the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation to address complex technical challenges. 
  • Risk management and problem solving: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle while proactively resolving technical and operational challenges to maintain progress. 
  • Stakeholder management and reporting: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear updates on project progress, outcomes, and technical challenges, while ensuring alignment with the company's vision and priorities. 

Qualifications 

  • Education: University/other degree in Computer Science, information technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Related experience: Demonstrated experience from a project environment, preferably within R&D, technology, or software development context and understanding of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum). Knowledge of specific programming languages (e.g. Java, NET, Python, C++, JavaScript) can be an advantage though it is not required. 
  • Certifications: Agile or Scrum, Prince2, IPMA (D) or similar (from level three and beyond).

     

The position will start on March 2026, and the employment will be through Temp-Team Finland Oy. This role follows a hybrid model, requiring on-site presence at the client’s office in Jyväskylä 4 days per week. The position is fixed-term until December 2026.
